Hidden Voices, Hidden Gems
An action research project currently in development, Hidden Voices, Hidden Gems, uses storytelling and audio walks as a means of developing insights for developing improvement strategies on the high street through community participation. The project is funded by the London Borough of Southwark’s High Street Recovery Fund.

Teaching
Shade Abdul teaches BA Architecture at Central Saint Martins, UAL. She
has previously taught BA Interior Architecture at the Brighton School of Architecture, Technology and Engineering and MA
Architectural Design at the Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff University. We see research as the engine for innovation and the basis from which transformative ideas can be developed. It underpins design concepts that shape our projects, adds value for our clients and raises the quality of our work.
Each project presents an opportunity to learn something new or advance our current thoughts and techniques. Whether it is co-design workshops, technical designs for improved building efficiency or post-occupancy surveys to help close performance gaps, research offers the opportunity to collaborate with others, exchange ideas and share knowledge.
Hidden Voices, Hidden Gems

The project will be co-produced with the local community and centred on interviews and stories of individuals. These stories will be featured on the installations whilst also promoting local businesses. Visitors will be encouraged to interact with the installations in different ways, which will allow LSBU’s students to collect insights. These customer insights will then be used to provide targeted support for local businesses.
